Principal Engineer at Zap Surgical Systems

Edward Gardner has held various positions in the medical device industry since 1995. Edward began their career as an Image Analysis Engineer at Acuson Corp. in 1995. In 2000, they moved to Siemens Healthcare as a Senior Staff Scientist. In 2007, they were promoted to Director of Physics Development at CyberHeart. After three years, they became a Consultant for several medical device companies, where they designed and developed signal processing for a novel ultrasound system, developed clinical procedures for a new application of radiosurgery and analyzed a catheter based CMOS imaging system. In 2012, they were appointed Director of System Engineering at Edan Medical, leading a team of over a dozen engineers in Sunnyvale and Shenzhen (China) to develop and improve the imaging capabilities of diagnostic ultrasound products. In 2017, they became Principal Engineer at CyberHeart, Inc. and in 2018, they joined ZAP Surgical Systems, Inc. as Principal Engineer, leading an on-site technical support team for the first customer installation of the ZAP-X radiosurgical system while developing technical improvements for that system.

Edward Gardner received their Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Kalamazoo College in 1986 and their PhD in Engineering from Yale University in 1992.
