Gonçalo Farinha started their career as an AI Researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico from 2010 to 2011. Gonçalo then worked as a Business Analytics Consultant at IBM Global Business Services from 2011 to 2016, where they provided data analytics and engineering expertise across various industries. In 2016, they co-founded and served as the CEO of Drivit, a company focused on making mobility safer and more sustainable through telematics and AI. Drivit was later acquired by Zego in 2020. At Zego, Gonçalo held various roles including Staff Data Scientist from 2020 to 2021, Head of Data Products from 2021 to 2023, Head of Product - Pricing & Telematics from 2023 to 2023, and currently serves as the Director of Product Management. In their roles at Zego, they led the development of data products, risk assessment tools, and pricing modeling to offer the best insurance prices for good drivers.
Gonçalo Farinha completed their Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico from 2005 to 2008. Gonçalo then pursued their Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Systems at the same institute from 2008 to 2011. In 2009, they took part in an exchange program at Chalmers University of Technology, studying Complex Adaptive Systems for a year.
