Michael Cunningham started their career at Queen's University Belfast, where they served as the Chairman of the Mens GAA club from 2014 to 2016. Michael then joined Citi in 2016, first as a Technology Academy participant and later as a Data Scientist, responsible for big data feed development and maintenance. In 2017, they moved to Navillus Contracting, where they worked as a Technical Lead, building an analytics solution for managing worker productivity and project cash flow. From 2019 to 2022, they worked at Barclays Investment Bank as a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead on the Equities Trading Platform, with a focus on data security and robustness. Currently, in 2022, they hold the position of Chief Technology Officer at Zelta.

Michael Cunningham's education history begins with their enrollment at St Colmans College Newry from 2005 to 2012. During this time, they studied History, Maths, and Accounting for A Level. Following their completion of A Levels, they attended Queen's University Belfast from 2012 to 2015, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in History. In 2015, Michael pursued further education at Queen's University Belfast and earned a Master's degree in Software Development in 2016.

Continuing their educational journey, Michael enrolled at NYU Stern School of Business for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, which they are expected to complete in 2021.

In addition to their formal education, Michael has also obtained several certifications. Michael completed "The Data Science Course 2020: Complete Data Science Bootcamp" from Udemy in August 2020. In October 2019, they obtained certifications in "Machine Learning Crash Course" from Google Developers and "Understanding Machine Learning with Python" from Pluralsight. In June 2019, Michael became an Agile Certified Professional through ICAgile. Furthermore, they obtained various programming-related certifications, including "Complete Python Masterclass" in April 2018, "Complete JavaScript" in February 2018, "Complete Xamarin Developer Course" in February 2018, "iOS Development & Swift" in February 2018, and "Practical Data Structures and Algorithms in Java" in November 2017, all from Udemy.
