Steven La Cava

Steven La Cava has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Steven is currently working as an Optical Solutions Engineer at Zemax, LLC, where they collaborate with customers from different sectors to solve complex problems and optimize workflows. Steven also works closely with the Development and Product teams to test new products and build custom solutions.

Prior to that, Steven worked at Toebe Construction LLC as an X2, a role that allowed him to apply their expertise from other fields to identify and implement improvements across all departments in the construction industry. Steven developed a drone program for rapid field survey, resulting in higher quality data in less time.

Before their time at Toebe Construction, Steven worked at Livingston Engineering as a Positioning Specialist/GIS Engineer. Here, they utilized virtual design and construction techniques to develop CADD models from survey data. Steven also created a drone program and utilized photogrammetry techniques to obtain high-resolution images for sub-centimeter and sub-millimeter resolution.

Steven also has experience as an Owner of Math Rhythm LLC, where they developed and provided free high-quality educational content online for students, teachers, and parents. Steven focused on creating original multimedia and digital content to cater to a new generation of students.

Additionally, Steven has worked as a Supplemental Instructor at Oakland Community College, instructing students in various subjects such as Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, and Business. Steven also mentored new employees and conducted training events for staff.

Earlier in their career, Steven worked as a Financial Advisor at SGC Financial, where they specialized in helping small to medium-sized businesses set up retirement benefit programs. Steven conducted education seminars, group enrollment presentations, and individual meetings.

Steven also gained experience as a Business Analyst and Research Associate at Fisher Investments, where they focused on increasing profitability through automation and streamlined workflows. Steven developed mathematical models and software to test trading techniques and presented findings to senior management.

In their early career, Steven worked as a University Researcher at the University of Arizona, Department of Mathematics, where they analyzed complex data and built usable models to understand the behavior of gravitational lensing and deep space dark matter objects. Steven was also part of various experimental research teams, working on tracking and eliminating spy satellites, observing and tracking micro-satellites, and developing adaptive optics using high-energy lasers.

Steven La Cava attended the University of Arizona from 2002 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Astronomy, and Mathematics. In addition to their formal education, Steven has also obtained additional certifications. In May 2021, they completed the Laser & Fiber with Zemax OpticStudio certification from Zemax LLC. Steven also obtained a certification in Optical system design with Zemax OpticStudio from Zemax, LLC.
