Etienne Saint-Sernin has a diverse work experience in the renewable energy sector. Etienne co-founded Zembo in 2017. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant specializing in renewable energy in Africa from 2012 until 2017. In this role, they conducted missions in rural electrification and renewable energies in countries like Mauritania and Tanzania. Etienne provided technical training, consultancy services, and acted as an advisor for social and impact investment funds.

From 2008 to 2012, Etienne worked at Apollon Solar as a Research Engineer and later served as the COO. Etienne focused on the development and industrialization of innovative photovoltaic technologies within the startup. Etienne managed research programs, handled financing, and played a role in patenting several innovations. Additionally, they took charge of marketing the developed technologies and creating business plans for production units.

Etienne started their career at ENDA Energy in 2005, where they worked as an Assistant Project Manager. Etienne was responsible for analyzing and defining energy policies in Africa, collaborating with international organizations such as UNDP, GEF, EU, CEDEAO, and WB. Etienne also managed a bioenergy project with small and medium-sized enterprises in Senegal and Cameroon. Furthermore, they provided support to SMEs in the energy sector through the AREED program.

Etienne Saint-Sernin's education history begins in 2003 when they enrolled at ENSTA Paris. Etienne completed their Master of Science degree in Mechanics and Environment in 2007. During their time at ENSTA Paris, Etienne pursued studies in the field of Mechanics and Environment. In 2006 and 2007, they also participated in an Exchange Programme at the Technical University of Munich, focusing on Energy and Environment. These experiences provided Etienne with a strong foundation in mechanics, environment, energy, and related fields.
