James Obarowski

Chief Executive Officer

James Obarowski is the Chief Executive Officer of Zembo, where they are focused on reducing carbon emissions in the transport industry. They previously served as Vice President of Field Operations at PULA from 2021 to 2023, enabling smallholder farmers to invest in and protect their farms with affordable, accessible insurance. They held leadership roles at TechnoServe as Country Director for Uganda and Tanzania (2020–2021) and led the TechnoServe Mango Program in Haiti, an $11M initiative funded by The Coca Cola Company, USAID, and IADB to double mango income for 25,000 farmers, while designing a micro-finance product serving 9,000 active borrowers with $4M of credit. Earlier in their career, they served as Project Manager at Concern Worldwide (2010–2011) and as CEO and Co-Founder of Expandia International Traders SARL, a social enterprise producing and exporting sesame seed from Burkina Faso. They earned a B.A. in Economics from Ithaca College and an MBA from IE Business School.
