Derek Singleton

Derek Singleton has extensive work experience in product management and consulting. Derek is the Founder & CEO of Upside Surprise, a product consultancy that helps B2B SaaS and Fintech companies enhance customer research, design, user experience, and product delivery. Prior to this, Derek worked as the Senior Director of Product Management and Head of Product at ZenBusiness, focusing on FinTech, Legal Tech, and Growth. Derek also served as a Strategic Advisor for product and marketing strategy at Ampled, a cooperative platform in the music industry. Additionally, Derek held leadership roles at Gartner, where they led product strategy and operations for software marketplaces, and at Software Advice, where they worked as a Product Manager and Marketing Manager. Derek started their career as an ERP Analyst at Microsoft Convergence and pursued environmental auditing at A Greener Music Festival. Derek also worked as a Business Development Analyst at Imani Energy and participated in community outreach at Invest in PUSD Kids.

Derek Singleton attended Occidental College from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Environmental Policy. In 2020, they also received certification as a Prof G Certified Strategist from Prof G.
