Rui Figueiredo

Rui Figueiredo has a diverse and extensive work experience. Rui currently serves as the Director of Engineering at Zencastr since July 2020. Previous to this, they worked at Citi as an Application Programmer Expert from May 2020 to July 2020.

In 2019, Rui worked at CUPS as a Senior Software Engineer, where they played a crucial role in boosting the company's sales by developing a new e-commerce site and creating a management service for a work-on-demand network of baristas.

From 2017 to 2019, Rui was employed at the Central Bank of Ireland as a Team Lead. Rui was responsible for the portal used by institutions regulated by the central bank. Rui set up the CI/CD process using TFS build and release management and mentored developers. Rui also initiated the project, selected the technology, and successfully navigated the bureaucratic bank processes.

Before that, Rui worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Spencer Stuart from 2016 to 2017, where they focused on front and backend development for the "Contact Management" area. Rui significantly improved the developer experience and successfully introduced AngularJS.

From 2015 to 2016, Rui worked at Vodafone Ireland as a Senior Software Engineer. Rui managed the entire development process of an externally facing portal, mentored other developers, and successfully delivered the project within the given timeframe.

In 2013, Rui returned to Spencer Stuart as a Senior Software Engineer, where they designed and developed the "Contact Management" system and was responsible for designing the support backend services using C# 4.

Rui has also worked at Mimecast in 2012 as a Senior Developer, delivering API design and implementation, developing internal applications, and creating a continuous delivery solution.

Additionally, Rui held the position of Technical Architect at Fenergo for a brief period in 2012.

Their earliest work experience dates back to 2004 when they worked as a Researcher at INESC-ID. During their tenure, they worked on various European projects, including the development of educational applications and tools for controlling game characters. Rui also demonstrated leadership by mentoring a team and overseeing the creation of a research group's public-facing website.

Rui Figueiredo began their education in 1999 at Instituto Superior Técnico, where they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, completing it in 2004. Rui furthered their studies at the same institution and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from 2008 to 2013. Additionally, in April 2013, they obtained a certification as a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) from the Scrum Alliance.
