Richard Ortiz has a diverse work experience in the comic industry. Richard started their career at Avatar Press in 2004 as a Comic Artist and worked there until 2008. In 2007, they joined Editions Clair de Lune as a Comic Artist, where they worked on the Le Capitaine Nemo series. Ortiz later worked as a Freelance artist doing Storyboards and Character Design from 2004 to 2009. Richard then joined Boundless Comics in 2009 as a Comic Artist and stayed until 2011. In 2012, they had a brief role as an Inker at DC Comics, and at the same time, they also worked at Editions Paquet as a Comic Artist until 2014. Ortiz continued their career as a Cover Artist at Coffin Comics from 2011 onwards. From 2013, they also worked as a Cover Artist at Zenescope Entertainment. In 2015, they joined DC Comics once again, this time as a Comic Artist. Most recently, Ortiz started working at Archie Comic Publications, Inc. as a Comic Artist in November 2020.

Richard Ortiz attended UTU Pedro Figari from 1994 to 1996, where they obtained a degree in Dibujo Publicitario. Richard also studied at Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes from 1997 to 2000, although no degree or specific field of study was mentioned for this period.
