Joe Pratt

Joe Pratt has an extensive work experience in various positions and industries. Joe began their career as a Mechanical Engineer at Parsons Energy & Chemicals, where they were involved in the design, field engineering, and construction management of large-scale power plants. Following this, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of California, Irvine, focusing on high-altitude fuel cell applications and teaching thermodynamics.

Joe then joined the University of Michigan - Shanghai Jiaotong University Joint Institute as an Assistant Professor, where they conducted research in alternative energy systems and taught mechanical engineering classes. During their time there, they received recognition for their effective communication and teaching style.

Afterwards, Joe worked at Sandia National Laboratories as the Founder and Manager of the Zero Emission Maritime Program, as well as the Manager of the US DOE's Hydrogen Fueling Infrastructure Research and Station Technology initiative. Their responsibilities included overseeing research projects and collaborating with various stakeholders.

In 2018, Joe became the CEO & CTO of Zero Emission Industries (formerly Golden Gate Zero Emission Marine), a company focused on developing zero-emission marine technologies. Joe provided strategic leadership and technical expertise in this role.

In 2020, Joe founded Zero Emission Advisors, where they serve as a Founding Partner. Joe provides technical assessments and expertise in hydrogen-related fields to clients, helping them make informed decisions and set policies.

Additionally, Joe has served as an Entrepreneur In Residence at Turning Basin Labs, where they applied their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.

Joe Pratt completed their education in the field of engineering. Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington, attending from 1993 to 1997. Joe then pursued higher education at UC Irvine, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from 2002 to 2004. Joe Pratt continued their studies at UC Irvine and completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, graduating between 2004 and 2008.
