Richard Theo

Richard Theo co-founded Zero in 2022. Prior to that, they were the Founder & Director of ActiveQuote Ltd, a leading price comparison site and broker of health and protection insurance. Richard served as Founder & CEO until July 2017 and then became a Non-Executive Director. Richard also worked as a Strategic Advisor for Yoello, an Order & Pay solutions provider for hospitality, from October 2020 to June 2021. In 2019, they founded and was Chairman of Fintech Wales, powering up the Fintech ecosystem in Wales. Richard was also appointed as the Fintech Envoy for Wales by HM Treasury in March 2018. From 2014 to 2020, they were the Founder & CEO of Wealthify.com, a digital investment platform. Before that, they founded and was the Managing Director of Avantis Systems Ltd, an innovative software and server solutions company. Richard also founded Wales' first conveyor belt sushi restaurant, Zushi, in 2004.

Richard Theo has a Ph.D. in Computer Networks from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd. Richard also holds a B.Sc.Hons II(i) degree in Computer Systems from the same university. Prior to their university education, Richard attended King's College School Wimbledon, where they completed 3 'A' Levels and 12 'O' Levels.
