Zero Waste Scotland
Dr. Luke Owen currently serves as the Impact and Evaluation Manager at Zero Waste Scotland, focusing on monitoring and evaluation activities within the organization since November 2022. Prior to this role, Dr. Owen had a long tenure at Coventry University from September 2010 to November 2022, where responsibilities included serving as an Assistant Professor, Senior Research Assistant, and Hourly Paid Lecturer, with a focus on community resilience, sustainable food systems, and the social dimensions of food production and consumption. Dr. Owen conducted doctoral research on Short Food Chains and their impact on sustainable livelihoods for small-scale food producers, utilizing qualitative methods in comparative studies between the East of England and The Gambia. Earlier work experience includes roles at Banco Santander as a Customer Service Advisor and at the Department for Work and Pensions as an Administrative Officer. Dr. Owen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Coventry University.
