Martin Willemsma

Martin Willemsma has a strong background in IT engineering and cloud automation. Martin has worked as a Cloud Engineer at Zerocopter in 2023, specializing in cloud infrastructure. Prior to that, they worked as a Freelance Cloud Automation Engineer at Willemsma IT Innovation, where they designed and implemented IT infrastructure automation, continuous integration, and delivery.

Martin also gained experience as a Kubernetes Engineer through Fullstaq, working at CM.com and the University of Twente in 2022. Martin also worked as a DevOps Engineer at Qardio, Inc. and a Security Engineer at the City of Amsterdam during the same year.

In 2020, Martin worked as a Cloud Engineer at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), where they focused on cloud infrastructure. Prior to that, they were a DevOps Engineer at The NextGen from 2019 to 2022, specializing in software development, infrastructure, and data projects.

Martin began their career in 2010 as a Bachelor Intern at SaaSplaza and subsequently worked as an Operations Engineer, Platform/Network Engineer, and Senior Linux System Engineer, gaining experience in Linux operating systems and platform management.

Martin Willemsma has a diverse education history, starting with their high school education at CSG Anna Maria van Schurman Franeker, where they studied VBO-C Elektrotechniek from 1996 to 2000. Martin then attended Friesland College Leeuwarden, where they pursued MBO Electrical Engineering level 4 from 2000 to 2002.

Afterward, Martin continued their education at Friesland College Leeuwarden and completed MBO ICT Niveau 3 from 2002 to 2004. Martin furthered their studies in the field of ICT by pursuing MBO ICT Niveau 4 Netwerkbeheer at the same institution from 2004 to 2006.

Later, Martin attended Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Advanced System and Network Engineering, with a focus on Forensics and Security from 2006 to 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Martin has obtained various certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. Martin achieved the CCENT certification from Cisco in July 2011, followed by the CCNA Routing and Switching certification in September 2011. Martin expanded their expertise in cloud solutions by becoming an AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate in September 2018.

Martin also obtained multiple certifications related to containerization and orchestration technologies. Martin became a Puppet Certified Professional in March 2015. Additionally, Martin holds the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification, which they obtained in September 2020. In the same month, they also achieved the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification. Martin further strengthened their containerization skills by acquiring the Rancher Labs certification for being a Certified Rancher Operator: Level 1 in November 2020. Moreover, they are a CKS: Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist, certified by The Linux Foundation in January 2022.

Furthermore, Martin has secured certifications in GitOps, Docker, and Terraform. Martin obtained the Developing and Delivering Software with Docker certification from LinkedIn in February 2019. In January 2023, they gained the Gitops Certified for Argo - Gitops Fundamentals - Level 1 and Gitops Certified for Argo - Gitops at Scale - Level 2 certifications from Codefresh. Martin also obtained the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (002) certification from HashiCorp in February 2023.
