Stephen Anthony

Chief Data Scientist at Zetaris

Stephen Anthony has a comprehensive work experience spanning over several years. Stephen began their career as an Associate Lecturer at The University of Sydney in 1999 before transitioning to the role of Computational Linguist. During this time, they worked on Australia's largest Language Technologies project, designing and developing a document classification system for the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) to detect fraudulent behavior on the internet.

In 2007, Stephen joined Appen Pty Ltd as a Computational Linguist. Here, they contributed to various projects involving text analytics and statistical machine learning solutions for law enforcement and national security applications. Additionally, they collaborated with linguist teams to develop linguistic resources for multiple languages.

In 2008, Stephen moved to UNSW Australia as a Research Fellow. Stephen focused on information extraction and semantic classification of text in the medical domain for Evidence-based Medicine. Stephen developed frameworks for automatic extraction of key facts and findings from clinical trials, and also worked on multi-document summarization, question answering, search, and network analysis.

Most recently, Stephen joined Zetaris in 2015 as the Chief Data Scientist. The details of their role and responsibilities at Zetaris are not provided.

Stephen Anthony earned a Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics and Computer Science from the University of Sydney, where they attended from 1999 to 2004. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications, including Dataiku Advanced Designer, Dataiku Core Designer, Dataiku ML Practitioner, and Dataiku MLOps Practitioner from Dataiku in August 2022.
