Blessen Jacob is an Energy Market Analyst with a focus on performing statistical data analysis to aid in developing strategic recommendations related to CAISO market activities such as load forecasting, generation offers, load bidding, and congestion hedging, as well as maintaining ZGlobal forecasting models including interacting with the technical teams of ZGlobal’s vendor-provided algorithms. Blessen is responsible for developing and implementing algorithms based on historical load data and weather patterns to forecast hourly load usage for multiple clients with the objective to minimize error to actual metered usage and minimize total energy cost to ZGlobal’s clients. His work efforts also include conducting complex analysis of the Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR) market in California using Oracle database, SQL, and other data analytics tools to analyze patterns in the CRR market with the objective of providing hedging strategies consistent with clients' risk policies. Blessen prepares data-driven reports for clients and reviews with them on a weekly or bi-weekly basis so that clients can understand the load forecast’s financial impact and CRR hedging strategy performance. Blessen joined ZGlobal following the completion of his Master’s degree in Statistics and Operation Research. Prior to joining ZGlobal, Blessen worked as an Electrical Engineer on commercial and residential high-rise building projects for facility and project management-related companies.
