Stephen Shackell BSc (hons) DTS has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Stephen started their career as a Trading Standards Officer at City of Liverpool Trading Standards in 2005. Stephen then moved on to South Wales Police, where they worked as an Accredited Financial Investigator from 2007 to 2010. At UK IPO, Stephen served as an Accredited Financial Investigator/Proceeds of Crime Advisor from 2010 to 2014.
In 2014, they joined Amazon UK as a Product Quality Program Manager, focusing on law enforcement and government liaison in criminal matters related to fraud. Stephen then became the Director of Cornerstone IRC Limited in 2015, providing specialist investigation skills to law enforcement and companies on fraud prevention and recovery of assets.
From 2015 to 2019, they worked at VSG Vision Security Group as the Head of Intelligence Services, leading a team of Crime Intelligence Analysts. During this time, they also served simultaneously as the Director of Intelligence Services at JLL's National Incident Communication Centre (NICC), where they provided intelligence and communication support during major incidents.
In 2018, Stephen transitioned to MITIE Security Ltd. as the Head of Intelligence Services, continuing their work on intelligence-led security and increasing revenue for the company's GSOC and intelligence business units.
Most recently, they have been working as the Crime and Security Strategy Advisor at Crimestoppers Trust since 2019, where they advise on crime and security strategy.
In 2020, Stephen took on the role of Director of Intelligence and Risk at Zinc Systems. In this role, they are responsible for driving the intelligence strategy, supporting clients with GSOC and intelligence solutions, and establishing partnerships with police, government agencies, and other strategic partners.
Stephen Shackell has a strong educational background in the field of law enforcement and trading standards. In 1999, they began their education at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, where they studied Trading Standards and obtained a 2:1 Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with honors. From 2001 to 2004, Stephen pursued further education at the Trading Standards Institute, earning a Diploma in Trading Standards. In 2007, they attended the National Policing Improvement Agency and completed a BTEC in Financial Investigation. Additionally, in February 2023, they obtained a certification in Understanding GDPR from the University of Groningen.
