Sydney Lizarazo

Sydney Lizarazo has a diverse work experience which includes various roles in the engineering field. They started their career at Takacs Chiropractic Center as an Office Clerk in 2011, and later worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Summer Arts Workshop from 2011 to 2014. In 2015, Sydney joined Rochester Institute of Technology as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, where they designed and constructed a facility for micro-fluidic energy harvesting.

In 2015, Sydney also worked at Toyota North America as a Facilities Engineer Co-op, where they developed troubleshooting procedures and conducted energy saving analyses. They then interned at Amphenol Aerospace in 2016 as a Design Engineer, focusing on improving fiber optic cable connectors and developing new cable assemblies.

In 2017, Sydney worked at LORD Corporation as a System Integration and Validation Student Associate. From 2016 to 2018, they worked at Rochester Institute of Technology as a Mechanical Engineering Tutor and later as a Machine Shop Assistant, where they advised students on machining projects and ensured safety procedures were followed.

Sydney's next role was at Alta Motors in 2018 as a Mechanical Design Intern, where they designed thermal system prototypes and performed tests for validation. They later joined Astra in 2018 and held multiple roles over the years, including Propulsion Engineer, Senior Propulsion Development Engineer, and Staff Propulsion Development Engineer. At Astra, they worked on various propulsion development projects.

Most recently, Sydney joined Zipline in 2023 as a Senior Mechanical Test Engineer, contributing their expertise to the company's testing processes.

Sydney Lizarazo completed their high school education at Sparta High School from 2009 to 2013, earning a High School Diploma. They went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science/Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2018.
