ZOLX is developing a new class of reusable, membrane free separation panels that handle complex, high solids process streams without traditional pores. By pairing engineered micro scale surface texture with polymer brushes, the platform aims to keep fouling at the surface, run at low pressure and gentle shear, and recover performance through standard clean in place protocols.

This surface based architecture is being explored in dense microbial fermentations for specialty enzymes, live culture and microbial food production, dairy and whey clarification, beer and beverage processing, microalgae harvesting, perfusion and cell retention, and selected oily or high strength sidestreams where conventional filters foul quickly and drive frequent cleaning cycles.

Across these settings, ZOLX works with partners who want longer run time between cleanings, lower energy use, and better protection of fragile cells and products, turning clarification from a chronic bottleneck into a more predictable, high value unit operation.
