Dr. Anja Honnefelder began their work experience in 2012 as an Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where they worked until 2016. Dr. Anja then joined trivago, initially as General Counsel, overseeing various legal functions and leading a team of 8 FTEs. During their time at trivago, they played a crucial role in the company's IPO on the NASDAQ, established corporate governance processes, managed compliance structures, and participated in legislation processes on both EU and national levels. Dr. Honnefelder also managed regulatory inquiries and investigations, as well as investor and consumer litigation across multiple jurisdictions. In 2020, they took on the position of Chief People & Legal Officer at trivago until 2023, further expanding their responsibilities. Currently, Dr. Honnefelder serves as the Chief People Officer of zooplus.

Dr. Anja Honnefelder obtained their education in law, starting with a Bachelor's degree from Bucerius Law School in 2004. From 2004 to 2005, they pursued further legal studies at the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg, obtaining their First State Exam. Dr. Anja then completed their PhD in Law from the University of Cologne and Bucerius Law School between 2006 and 2011, earning the degree of Dr. jur. Additionally, they obtained a Second State Exam in Law from the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg from 2009 to 2011. Prior to their legal studies, they completed their Abitur at Salem International College in 2000.
