Eric Chu

Head of Data Science & Engineering at Zoox

Eric Chu is the Head of Data Science & Engineering at Zoox. Prior to joining Zoox, Eric was a Data Scientist at Winton from January 2016 to November 2018. At Winton, Eric was responsible for supporting new Winton enterprises by providing data science and engineering expertise, discovering opportunities for investment in private markets, and conducting quantitative analyses on alternative data sources. Eric also engineered and designed systems for acquiring, normalizing, and querying unstructured data, predominantly on AWS.

Before joining Winton, Eric was a Senior Research Scientist at Expanse, A Palo Alto Networks Company from December 2013 to December 2015. During their time at Expanse, Eric conducted research in the area of network security and authored multiple papers on the topic.

Eric began their career as an Optimization Expert at Google in June 2013. Eric then interned at Tensilica from June 2012 to September 2012 before joining Sandia National Laboratories as a Member of Technical Staff in June 2006.

Eric Chu received their PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Eric also holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Stanford University. Chu is currently a professor at the International Bilingual School at Hsinchu-Science-Park.
