Joseph Marino

Dr. Joseph Marino is the Chief Technology Officer for Zortag, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for the research and development of technologies which satisfy Zortag’s requirements and are customized to the specific needs of a variety of customers. He also oversees all engineering functions, including both software and hardware solutions, for a variety of tasks including image capture, algorithm design, image processing, user interaction, and server-client programming.

Joseph received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stony Brook University. With a background in visual computing, Joseph has conducted research in the fields of visualization, computer graphics, image processing, and computational geometry. He has developed techniques in image analysis and 3D graphics with applications to medical imaging and virtual diagnosis, including advancements for virtual colonoscopy and virtual prostate examinations.

Joseph’s expertise in image processing, image transmission, algorithm development, mobile computing, networking, and databases cover a diverse array of topics germane to application development and validation. He also has experience across multiple development environments, including knowledge of a variety of coding languages, code libraries, systems for deployment, and software packages. Joseph has more than a dozen publications in various fields, has presented his work at related conferences and workshops, and has several associated patents.
