Charlie Melvoin has worked in a variety of roles since 1998. In 2008, they were a Guide and Translator for the NBC & GE Olympic Hospitality Program. In 2009, they were a Research Assistant for the United Nations World Food Programme. In 2010, they were a Gates Scholar for the University of Cambridge, where they earned a MPhil in Development Studies with highest honors. In 2011, they worked as International Communications for Baidu, Inc., where they ran strategy and content for the English language blog. In 2012, they were part of the International Management Program for John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Ltd., where they served as Project Leader for the launch of a new tech initiative. In 2016, they founded SwimTeam. In 2017, they founded Zygo, a headset for underwater streaming audio and live coaching, which was named one of TIME's best inventions of 2022.
Charlie Melvoin attended Harvard-Westlake School from 1999 to 2005. In 2006, they began attending Harvard University, where they studied Charlie'story and Literature and Mandarin until 2010. In 2007, they also attended Beijing Language and Culture University for the Harvard Beijing Academy. In 2010, they completed an MPhil in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge.
