Caitlyn Turner

Research Technician I at Zymo Research

Caitlyn Turner began their professional career in 2018 as an Undergraduate Research Associate I at Trinity University. In this role, they worked to generate and purify randomized mutants of the essential spliceosomal protein Dib1 and analyzed the effects these randomized Dib1 mutants had on cell viability through yeast temperature sensitivity screening. Caitlyn also served as an Organic Chemistry I Peer Tutor. In 2021, Caitlyn joined Zymo Research Corp as a Research Technician I, where they collaborated with five colleagues to design a non-invasive human colorectal cancer PCR detection assay. Her focus was to develop a column-based extraction protocol to isolate host DNA and RNA from stool samples. Later that year, they joined DiaSorin Molecular LLC as a Research Associate I, where they strove to construct an indirect Real-Time PCR detection assay of Clarithromycin and Levofloxacin resistance in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Caitlyn was responsible for optimizing the extraction protocol of H. pylori.

Caitlyn Turner graduated from Trinity University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Caitlyn began their studies at Trinity University in 2016.
