Jeffrey Bhasin

Director of Informatics at Zymo Research

Jeffrey Bhasin has a long and varied career in informatics and bioinformatics. Jeffrey began their career in 2003 with an independent research project at Case Western Reserve University, which won multiple awards including First Place and Best in Category - Medicine and Health at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2005. In 2005 and 2006, they worked as a Research Student/Data Analyst at the Cleveland Clinic. In 2008, they became President of Blue Cranium, LLC. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Statistical Programmer at the Cleveland Clinic, where they developed analytic modelling approaches to integrate gene expression and genotype data from heart tissue datasets along with analysis of genome-wide association study (GWAS) data. From 2012 to 2017, they were a Graduate Student at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, where they discovered epigenetic changes that associate with aggressive prostate cancer, revealing new potential functions for epigenetics in gene regulation, and informing the development of new diagnostics. Jeffrey also developed and published two novel open source bioinformatics tools to perform this research. Since 2017, they have been the Director of Informatics and Bioinformatics Group Leader at Zymo Research Corp.

Jeffrey Bhasin obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Medicine from Case Western Reserve University in 2016. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the same university.
