Kyle McClary, Ph.D.

Kyle McClary, Ph.D. has over 10 years of experience in the field of bioinformatics and biotechnology. In 2020, they began working as a Bioinformatic Scientist and Team Lead for Integrated Omics at Zymo Research Corp, where they lead a team of scientists and developers to uncover epigenetic, genetic, transcriptomic, and microbiomic signatures that predict aging progression and disease development. From 2016 to 2020, they served as the CEO and Co-Founder of Microscape Inc., a software platform that enables biomedical researchers and medical professionals to remotely collaborate around 3D+ imaging data. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Graduate Research Fellow at the USC Bridge Institute, where their PhD research focused on using mass-spec proteomics, fluorescence imaging, and soft x-ray tomography to characterize pancreatic beta cells and integrate data from multiple experimental modalities. Kyle also founded and served as President of The Bridge Art + Science Alliance, which they raised $100K for to create a program dedicated to connecting artists & scientists and supporting their collaborative projects. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Teaching Assistant for Stories of Science and Complexity (IML 475 + BISC 499) and World Building, Narrative Design, and Design Visualization (IML 575) at the University of Southern California. Kyle also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for Convergent Biosciences (BISC 599) and Analytical Chemistry (CHEM 300). In 2017, they worked as a Professional Scientific Collaborator at The Scripps Research Institute with Prof. John R. Yates III and group using mass spectrometry-based proteomics to profile the identity and frequency of proteins in pancreatic beta cells during stages of insulin production. From 2012 to 2013, they were a Teaching Assistant for General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry Laboratory (CHEM 124A) and URCA Research Associate and Research Assistant at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In 2012, they were a NSF BioMaPS Research Fellow at Murray State University, where they reviewed literature regarding invasive-species introduction to local and global ecosystems, used statistical models, and identified Kentucky Lakes flora.

Kyle McClary, Ph.D. received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics from Murray State University between 2008 and 2012. Kyle then received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in ACS Biochemistry from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville between 2013 and 2014. Lastly, they received a Chemistry, Ph.D. from the University of Southern California between 2014 and 2020.
