Hewlett Packard Enterprise has selected Fidelma Russo as the company’s next CTO to help sculpt its tech roadmap and manage the development of its edge-to-cloud platform, called GreenLake.
“Fidelma brings deep expertise in cloud services, software, and infrastructure built on an extensive career in technology,” HPE CEO Antonio Neri stated. “Her diverse experience makes her distinctively suited to drive innovation as we accelerate our transformation and bring differentiated solutions to the market.”
The 30 year tech veteran joins HPE after serving as SVP and GM of VMware’s Cloud Services business unit. Before she joined VMware in May 2020, Russo had been the CTO and EVP of Global Technology and Operations at Iron Mountain. She also brings a wealth of experience from senior leadership positions at Dell EMC, HP, and Sun Microsystems.
"I am thrilled to be joining Hewlett Packard Enterprise, a company with a deep heritage of innovation that is now at another transformational moment in the industry,” Fidelma said. “I look forward to working with our leadership, engineers, developers, customers, and partners as we focus on delivering solutions that provide a unified as a service experience, from edge-to-cloud.”
Russon takes over in the wake of HPE’s $374 million acquisition of cloud data management and protection firm Zerto. The July deal is meant to expand GreenLake and help HPE Storage transition into a cloud-native, software-defined data services business.
