Amazon VP Dorothy Li is joining trucking logistics startup, Convoy, as its new CTO. Li will oversee the engineering team and the freight network at the company backed by high profile investors such as Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and Marc Benioff.
In a statement to GeekWire, Li expressed she was drawn to Convoy as it was similar to Amazon in the early 2000s when the company was at an inflection point.
“It is with mixed emotions of excitement for the next chapter and gratitude for the previous one, that I want to share with you I will be joining #Convoy next week as their CTO, on the bold mission of transporting the world with endless capacity and zero waste,” Li said in a LinkedIn post.
Li has spent over 23 years of her career with Amazon where she has served as VP for multiple departments. Most recently, the graduate of Brigham Young University was the VP for Amazon Web Services where she focused on BI and analytics services. She hopes that in her new role, she will be able to create more opportunities for diverse leadership at the company.
“There usually are not that many feminine expertise leaders which can be seen,” she said in a statement. “Considered one of my targets is to carry extra of that inclusion and variety into Convoy and for the higher Seattle space as effectively.”
