Angi has named Ercan Kamber as the online home improvement platform’s first-ever Chief Data Officer.
At Angi, Kamber will lead the company's efforts to create a central data strategy and distill insights that can be used to improve its offerings for both homeowners and professionals. This new role falls in line with the company’s efforts to strategically leverage its stockpile of data, which includes 32 million annual project requests from homeowners, following the rebrand and launch of Angi earlier this year.
Kamber most recently served as the data leader in charge of Twitter’s discovery and connection organization. While at the social media giant, he oversaw the teams focused on Twitter's home timeline, new user experience, search, explore, and topics features. Before that, he led data science and machine learning teams as an executive at Microsoft and served as the CTO of RAID Computing.
“Harnessing data about how homes are cared for is essential to our success and our mission to become the home for everything home,” Angi CEO Oisin Hanrahan said in a press release. “Ercan’s proven ability to build a world-class data organization is exactly what we need to best deliver our mission, better understand our customers and pros, and build products that continue to transform how we care for our homes.”
After Angi’s rebrand in early 2021, the company has expanded its C-suite with a host of new hires including a new Chief Marketing Officer and CFO.
