Veerasingham will oversee all AP departments, including the company’s news, business and technology operations.
The Associated Press promoted chief revenue officer Daisy Veerasingham to executive vice president and chief operating officer on Wednesday. Veerasingham will be responsible for overseeing all AP departments, including the company’s news, business and technology operations. All of these departments will report jointly to her and president and CEO Gary Pruitt.
Veerasingham has been serving as chief revenue officer for the global news network since 2019 and will continue to oversee the company’s revenue division. She will still report directly to Pruitt.
“Daisy is an extraordinary leader, and her innovative and strategic vision has helped AP achieve financial strength,” Pruitt said. “Her remarkable performance as a revenue leader and her commitment to AP’s news values make her the ideal choice for COO.”
As chief revenue officer, Veerasingham has led a division overseeing AP’s sales, product, marketing and customer operations around the world. She brings a long history of working within marketing and sales to her new role.
Veerasingham first joined the AP in 2004 as sales director for AP Television News in London and was promoted to senior vice president for international revenue in 2010. She led all international content licensing, AP Global Media Services and AP’s video business in that role.
Currently based in London, Veerasingham will relocate to AP’s headquarters in New York.
