Monica Howard Douglas, a 17-year veteran of The Coca-Cola Company, is the iconic beverage brand’s new SVP and General Counsel.
Effective immediately, she will take on the responsibility of overseeing the continued evolution of the legal function at the Atlanta-based company while also serving as a valued voice in helping lead its overall business.
In a press release, Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO James Quincey called Douglas a “outstanding legal leader who has deep experience working across our company and system.”
Douglas has held multiple roles of increasing responsibility on the company’s legal team and most recently served as the Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel for the company’s North America operating unit but. Prior to joining Coca-Cola in 2004, she was an Attorney with Equifax and an Associate at Troutman Sanders LLP (now known as Troutman Pepper LLP).
In addition to Douglas’ selection as General Counsel, Coca-Cola also announced it has elected Jeffrey Gilbert as VP and Chief Security Officer, effective March 15, and selected Lucy Reid as VP of Strategic Ingredient Supply.
This executive refresh will help the company gain additional clarity as it re-evaluates its strategy. The company has already announced that it will discontinue 200 brands, almost half of its portfolio, as it focuses on the most profitable remaining beverages.
