Cockroach Labs Names Former VMware Exec as CFO

Lorenzo Montesi will be joining Cockroach Labs, the database software startup behind CockroachDB, as Chief Financial Officer, the company announced in a press release on Monday.

Cockroach Labs has experienced rapid growth in the cloud data market over the past year. In January, the company raised $160 million in a Series E funding round led by Altimeter Capital, fueled by the adoption of its database CockroachDB.

Montesi will be tasked with driving the company’s financial planning, analysis and operations. He will also work closely with the company’s leadership team to scale the company globally during this significant growth phase.

Montesi has held several roles in finance, strategy and operations at various tech companies. Most recently, he was SVP of Finance at Cohesity, an enterprise data management company, where he led the Finance and Sales teams through multiple years of growth.

Before that, Montesi was the Senior Director of Sales Operations and Go-to-Market Strategy for Emerging Businesses at VMware. As part of his role there, he helped establish sales operations for VMware’s Cloud Services.
