In the Summer of 2017, Christian Wylonis read an article that would change the trajectory of his life. He decided to leave his job to build a platform where every company in the world could have a public org chart in order to attract, align and retain talent. Fast forward to 2021, The Org has raised a total of $31.5 million from some of the world’s leading investors including Tiger Global, Founders Fund, Sequoia and Balderton.

In the Summer of 2017, Christian Wylonis read an article that would change the trajectory of his life.
The article titled “The People Who Matter at Airbnb” included an interactive org chart that was going viral both externally and internally at Airbnb.
“It showed me that there was a big issue around organizational transparency,” Wylonis said. “So the idea was to create a platform where every company in the world could have a public org chart in order to attract, align and retain talent.”
He called up his old business partner Andreas Jarbol, The Org’s current CTO, and the duo immediately began working on building the first version of the website.
The Org’s platform was first launched publicly in February of 2018 but there was still a lot of work to be done.
“As with a lot of startups, the first year and a half were really tough. We had to convince people why this was a great idea and fight for all the traffic we could get,” Wylonis said.
“So when Sequoia led our seed round in April of 2019, that was an amazing stamp of approval from a really big investor.”
The company has since raised a total of $31.5 million from some of the world’s leading investors including Tiger Global, Founders Fund, Sequoia and Balderton. Most recently, it closed a $20 million Series B led by Tiger Global.
There are now over 150,000 registered users, and 130,000 public org charts on The Org’s platform, and nearly a million professionals visit its site every month.
