Kerry Person has joined Gopuff as the consumer goods delivery platform's new VP of Global Supply Chain, Engineering and Delivery Operations, according to a statement provided to The Org.

Gopuff 10/2021

Person, an almost 20-year veteran of the logistics industry, previously spent nearly two years as the Head of Operations at Convoy and over a dozen years at Amazon, where he most recently served as VP, North American Logistics.

Person joins just two months after the Philadelphia-based company named Sanjay Shah (another Amazon veteran) as its SVP of North America Fulfillment.

"I've been impressed with what the Gopuff team has built over the last few years across both technology and operations and am thrilled to rejoin many folks I've loved working with in the past, including Tim Collins, Steven Harman, and Sanjay Shah, amongst others," Person shared on LinkedIn.

Gopuff recently launched operations in New York City with plans to double its presence in the megacity by the end of 2021. To do so in the midst of a global supply chain slowdown, Gopuff will need to lean on logistics professionals like Person and Shah, as well as two other new hires — the company also added Scott Shaw as VP of Global Customer Service and Ani Bajirao as Senior Director of Engineering.

Over the summer, Gopuff secured $1 billion in new funding, valuing the company at $15 billion. Since then it has been making strategic investments in talent and technology to enhance and streamline its processes and operations from inventory to delivery.

These investments will be necessary as the company fends off a host of new rivals in the 15-minute delivery market like Europe's Gorillas, which launched their US operations in May, and New York's Jokr, which just raised $260 million in a Series B funding round. Gopuff will also have to contend with Buyk which launched in NYC in September and hired a new CEO last month.
