Muneera Aldossary is joining HSBC’s Saudi Unit as Chief Investment Officer according to Bloomberg, showing progressive changes in attitudes towards women in the Kingdom’s financial industry.

Aldossary started her career at Saudi joint stock company, Banque Saudi Fransi in 2004, she then moved to Saudi Fransi Capital in 2006 where she served as Head of Equity Investments. In 2018, Aldossary became the CEO of Mulkia Investment Company.

Gradual reforms to advance women’s economic participation have been introduced in Saudi Arabia. In 2019, women made up approximately 23% of the workforce, and the government hopes to reach 30% by 2030, a relatively low goal considering more than half of university graduates in the country are women.

HSBC is one of the first full service, international investment banks operating in Saudi Arabia.
