LG has reshuffled the leadership of its consumer electronics business, naming William Cho as the new CEO of LG Electronics in addition to his current role as Chief Strategy Officer, effective December 1.
Cho takes over from Bong-seok Kwon, who will reportedly help lead LG’s main holding company.
In connection with Cho’s appointment, the South Korean tech giant also announced that Kim Byoung-hoon has been promoted from Head of the Future Technology Center to CTO.
Cho has been the company’s Chief Strategy Officer since 2019. Before that, he led LG business units around the world, including LG Canada, LG Australia, and LG United States.
In LG's announcement, the company stated the leadership reshuffle will accelerate changes meant to focus on customer value, including the reorganization of the Customer Satisfaction Management Center into the new Customer Value Innovation Office (CVIO), which falls under Cho’s purview.
The company has also elevated its M&A and AI Big Data departments to the division level, giving it access to more resources and funding. The company is also reportedly pushing for a new division aimed at supplying an augmented reality software solution to the automotive industry.
