Startups to Watch Coming Out of Arizona

Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon, but that's not the only thing the Southwestern state has going on.

Arizona is widely known as the home of the Grand Canyon, but that's not the only thing the Southwestern state has going on. Emerging from the desert the is a burgeoning startup scene anchored by success stories meal delivery startup Freshly, which was founded in Arizona before migrating to New York and being acquired by Nestlé in 2020 for $1.5 billion.

Sharing a border with California, Arizona is not too far removed from the tech-rich state giving companies access to top level talent. Coupled with a low cost of living the 6th largest and the 14th most populous US state is situated to be a serious destination for startups.

To learn more about the tech oasis in the desert of the Southwest we took a look a 10 promising startups to watch this year.

1. RadiusAI

Phoenix-based RadiusAI has landed on several local top startup lists, and rightfully so. The startup’s computer vision analytics product is designed for both retail and health use cases. With RadiusAI’s product, customers can ensure social distancing and hand sanitization is being enforced as well as monitor stores to gain insights into customer dwell times and areas of interest. Founded in 2017, the venture is led by Co-Founder and CEO Aykut Dengi and raised an additional $1.9 million in 2020.

2. Chassi

The next entrant on the list, Chassi, has offices in both Pheonix and Scottsdale. The startup provides business leaders and consultants with real-time process improvement software. Helmed by CEO Andrew Zwerner, Chassi kicked off the year with a slew of new product features and released Orders Center to improve visibility into companies’ order processes.

3. Televeda

Televeda’s platform helps reduce social isolation among the elderly population by building and supporting growing virtual communities. The startup was founded by Mayank Mishra and Shruti Gurudanti in 2018 and has become uniquely suited to help those isolated by COVID-19. This year the company has inked a deal with Duet: Partners In Health & Aging to create “Duet at Home,” an initiative that brings virtual programs like Bingo, Tai chi, yoga, and painting to grandparents raising grandchildren free-of-charge.
