State Street has named Aman Thind as its EVP and Global Chief Architect, a key move as the financial services firm eyes a greater presence in the cryptocurrency market.
Thind will report to State Street’s Global Chief Information Officer, Brian Franz, and will primarily be tasked with leading the strategy and implementation of the firm’s technology transformation and interoperable infrastructure. But as the 229-year-old bank notes in its press release, Thind will also play an integral role in building State Street’s capabilities in digital, crypto, and other digitally-led technologies.
“Technology will continue to be a key enabler of our clients’ growth objectives and we are confident that Aman’s expertise will enhance the delivery of solutions, help them accelerate time to market and build stability, resiliency and scalability into their operations,” Franz stated.
Franz also highlighted Thind’s experience on the trading floor and in technology strategy as Thind has spent time at Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, Fidelity and Adobe in various leadership roles. He joined State Street in 2018, when the firm acquired the the fintech startup he co-founded, called BestX. After joining the State Street team he served as the Chief Technology Officer of the firm’s GlobalLink platform.
Recently State Street was appointed as the administrator of a planned bitcoin backed exchange traded note (ETN) initiated by Iconic Funds subsidiary Iconic Funds BTC ETN. Additionally in March 2021, State Street was selected as the fund administrator and transfer agent of the VanEck Bitcoin Trust a new bitcoin exchange-traded fund, which is pending approval by the SEC.
