Sumo Logic Names Worldwide Field Ops President as Revenue Chief Departs

Sumo Logic has revealed that Lynne Doherty has joined the company as its President of Worldwide Field Operations, effective immediately.

Sumo Logic has revealed that Lynne Doherty has joined the company as its President of Worldwide Field Operations, effective immediately.

News of Doherty’s hiring comes alongside an announcement that the cloud-based machine data analytics company’s Chief Revenue Officer, Steve Fitz, will depart the company.

A company representative confirmed to The Org that Doherty’s newly-formed role is intended as a replacement for the soon-to-be-vacant Chief Revenue Officer position.

The two will work together to transition Fitz's responsibilites until the end of Sumo Logic's fiscal year (ended January 31, 2022).

Doherty brings decades of international sales leadership expertise to her new role and most recently worked as EVP of Global Sales and Marketing for McAfee Enterprise, where she led drove over a billion dollars of revenue annually and led a team of 1,200 through an IPO and multiple acquisitions. Before that, she spent 15 years at Cisco and left as the tech company’s SVP of US Commercial Sales.

“Given her experience, I am confident that she will hit the ground running, accelerate our go-to-market strategy and transformation, strengthen our global sales and partner ecosystem and help Sumo further scale over the coming years,” CEO Ramin Sayar stated in the company’s announcement.

The executive change comes on the back of four unprofitable quarters since its Nasdaq debut in September 2020.

Bringing on an experienced global sales veteran like Doherty could help Sumo Logic spur faster sales growth to aid its bid for profitability. In its last quarter (ended July 2021) the company recorded 19% year-over-year revenue growth.

Doherty added, “Sumo has all the pieces required to become a category leader - vision, technology, happy customers, strong partner ecosystem, and purpose-driven culture - and I’m thrilled to join the company and help lead them through the next phase of growth as we scale to address the market transitions of cloud computing, cyber security and observability."
