Mike McNamara, who has been with Target since 2015, has announced he will retire as the retail giant’s Chief Information Officer next year.
On LinkedIn, he said he would stick around to help onboard his successor, however, the company hasn’t named his replacement.
In his announcement, McNamara said he had always planned for Target to be his last job and stated that the timing “is great to begin the process of retiring and transitioning to a new CIO.”
Since joining Target, he has helped craft the company’s 4,500 employee in-house tech team and develop a custom-built tech platform to help aid its shift to e-commerce.
“His team has rebuilt and modernized the technology platform that’s been critical to the launch and growth of numerous Target experiences — including the digital and same-day services that our guests love and rely on,” a spokesperson wrote in the company’s online publication.
