1. Honda To Name R&D Chief as Its New CEO
Honda, Japan’s second-largest automobile manufacturer, will name Toshihiro Mibe, president of research and development, as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mibe will replace Takahiro Hachigo, who has been CEO at Honda since June 2015.
2. Former Stripe Exec Joins Legal Team at Coinbase
Coinbase named Melissa Strait as its new Chief Compliance Officer in a company announcement on Thursday. Strait joins the cryptocurrency and digital wallet company after working at Stripe for five years. At Stripe, Strait worked as its U.S. Compliance Officer, and most recently the Global Head of Financial Crimes.
3. Google Reorganizes Ethical AI Team With Marian Croak at the Top
Google has officially reorganized its responsible AI team under a single executive, VP of Engineering Marian Croak. Croak, who has been a VP at Google for the past six years working on projects like site reliability engineering and bringing public Wi-Fi to India’s railroads, will now oversee the newly created center of expertise on responsible AI within Google Research.
5. Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Will Join Spotify's Board of Directors
Mona Sutphen, who served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy under President Obama from 2009 to 2011, will be joining Spotify’s Board of Directors in April.
6. Target Announces a Major Leadership Shuffle to its Executive Team
Target announced a string of leadership updates to its executive team on Tuesday, including the creation of a chief growth officer position and the promotion of a new chief marketing officer. The creation of new roles and the recent departure of president of food and beverage Stephanie Lundquist sparked a chain of promotions in Target’s C-Suite.
7. Company Veteran Marie Myers Named CFO of HP
Marie Myers, HP’s acting CFO will be the new Chief Financial Officer of the multinational technology company. Myers took on the role of acting CFO in October last year after Steve Fieler departed for Alphabet. Having been with the company for more than twenty years, Myers has served as HP’s Global Controller and America’s CFO of HP’s Personal Systems business unit.
8. DraftKings Announces New Chief Compliance Officer
DraftKings announced two executive moves on Wednesday. The fantasy sports and sports betting company named Jennifer Aguiar as its new Chief Compliance Officer, a role previously held by Tim Dent. As a result, Dent is also switching roles, going from Chief Financial Officer and CCO to Senior Vice President, Regulatory Operations.
9. HSBC Names Sustainability Chief to Advance Net Zero Goals
HSBC has announced that Dr. Celine Herweijer has joined the financial institution as its Group Chief Sustainability Officer. Herweijer, who begins her new role in July 2021, will report directly to HSBC Group CEO Noel Quinn.
10. Walmart Promotes Industry Vet To Lead Apparel Team
Walmart announced Friday it’s promoting Denise Incandela to lead its apparel team as EVP of Apparel and Private Brands. First reported by WWD, Incandela moves up from SVP of Walmart’s women’s group, elevated and online brands.
