Twitter has hired Beverly Jackson as its first-ever VP of Global Brand and Consumer Marketing. Jackson will start her role at the social media giant in January 2021 and report directly to CMO Leslie Berland, who announced the move on Twitter.
In the newly created role, Jackson will lead Twitter’s global consumer marketing, brand, social, and consumer product marketing teams. In a tweet about her new role, she promised to “bring joy and passion to every project.”
Most recently, Jackson drove consumer engagement for games like “Call of Duty” and “Tony Hawk's Pro Skater” at Activision Blizzard as the gaming company’s VP of Franchise Communication and Social. The Howard University and Baruch College alum also has held social media and consumer engagement positions at MGM Resorts International and Yahoo. She also headed up the social and digital campaigns for the Grammy Awards as a team member at the Recording Academy.
In a statement provided to Variety, Berland called Jackson a force and said she is joining Twitter at the perfect time. “She’s a storyteller, a creative, a collaborator, and she gets Twitter inside and out,” Berland added.
On Twitter, Jackson responded to the announcement of her hiring by stating, “Leslie! What an honor to join the Twitter team and help shape this incredible brand! I am so excited for every bit of it - let’s do this!!!!”
