Walmart has lured Jean Batthany from Disney to serve as the retail and e-commerce titan’s SVP and Chief Creative Officer, a newly-created role.
As Walmart’s creative chief, Batthany leads the vision for consumer centric communications across all of the company’s channels and develops breakthrough and innovative marketing at all consumer touch points, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She brings a wealth of creative experience to the Arkansas-based behemoth including an almost 5-year stint as the VP of Global Creative for Walt Disney Parks Experiences and Consumer Products. As the head of Disney Parks’ in-house creative agency, Batthany collaborated on the evolution of the company’s marketing process to better reflect diverse talent both in front of and behind the camera in order to create a more equitable and just culture. She was also an executive task force member of the BRAVE Diversity + Inclusion initiative across Disney’s Global Marketing and Sales segment.
Batthany also has vast experience in creative roles at multiple major marketing and ad agencies like BBDO and Saatchi & Saatchi.
As the creative visionary in charge of presenting Walmart to the world, Batthany will help the company tackle new digital frontiers like TikTok as it attempts to reach a wider array of consumers. In March 2021, Walmart took to the buzzy new social media app for the second time to experiment with shoppable ads and shoppable livestreams.
