Rob Abel has an extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Rob currently serves as the Board President for 1EdTech Foundation since December 2019. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Executive Officer at 1EdTech Consortium starting from February 2006.
Rob's previous roles include President at Alliance for Higher Education Competitiveness from 2004 to 2012, Senior Vice President Client Services at Collegis from 1999 to 2004, and Senior Director at Oracle from 1996 to 1999.
Rob also worked as a Senior Market Development Manager at National Semiconductor from 1995 to 1996, Director of Advanced Computing Technology at TRW ESL from 1986 to 1995, Group Head of Special Sensor Systems at Hughes Aircraft Company from 1983 to 1986, and Software Engineer at ITT Avionics from 1981 to 1983.
Rob Abel received their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computational Physics from Carnegie Mellon University from 1977 to 1981. Rob then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California from 1983 to 1985. Later, from 1986 to 1989, they attended Stanford University and earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Engineering Management. Lastly, from 2004 to 2007, Rob Abel attended Fielding Graduate University and obtained an EdD in Educational Leadership & Change.
