Camey Christenson has a diverse range of work experience in the nonprofit sector. Camey started their career as an Outpatient Psychiatric Social Work Intern at the University of California, San Diego, followed by a role as a Hotline Coordinator and Lead Crisis Counselor at the YWCA of San Diego County. Camey then worked as a Children's Group Facilitator at the Domestic Abuse Project before joining Episcopal Community Services as an Associate Director, where they were responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of transitional housing programs.

In 2004, Christenson became a Senior Development Officer at Father Joe's Villages, where they provided leadership and administrative management of the Development Department. Camey later served as the Executive Director of The Crime Victims Fund from 2008 to 2011.

In 2006, Christenson founded C. Christenson Consulting, Inc., providing nonprofit development services to organizations in San Diego and Riverside Counties. Camey offered services such as project management, grant writing, funding research, and strategic planning.

From 2014 to 2017, Christenson held various leadership roles at 2-1-1 San Diego, including Director of Business and Partnership Development and later Vice President of Business and Partnership Development. In 2017, they transitioned to Community Information Exchange (CIE San Diego) as a Senior Vice President.

Most recently, they have been serving as the Chief Business Development Officer at 2-1-1 San Diego since July 2020. Camey'sresponsibilities include executive leadership and administrative oversight of the development, fundraising, contracting, marketing, and outreach departments, as well as engaging and stewarding partnerships with nonprofit, corporate, and government organizations.

Throughout their career, Christenson has demonstrated expertise in nonprofit development, grant writing, program development, marketing, and government relations. Camey has worked with a wide range of organizations, including the San Diego Housing Commission, New Alternatives, Inc., and Martha's Village & Kitchen.

Camey Christenson earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from San Diego State University in the years 1993 to 1999. After that, Camey pursued a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota from 1999 to 2000.
