Laura Furr Mericas

Laura Furr Mericas has a diverse work experience in journalism, with their latest role being the Managing Editor at 225 magazine from February 2022. Laura began their career in 2013 as a Market Research Intern at MediaComp, and later worked as a Legislative Aide at Senator Dan Claitor in 2014. In 2015, they had multiple roles at SIOPCO, Medill News Svc, and Medill School of Journalism, as well as being the Web Editor and Data Reporter at Houston Business Journal. Laura then worked as a Senior Associate Editor at Weddings in Houston in early 2017 before joining SagaCity Media, Inc. as a Custom Publications Editor and later as a Senior Editor until August 2020. In-between, from 2017, they also worked as a Freelance Journalist.

Laura Furr Mericas earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Journalism and History from Louisiana State University in 2014. Laura also attended Vanderbilt University in 2010 to study Communication Studies. In 2015, they completed their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs from Northwestern University. Earlier, Laura attended Louisiana State University Laboratory School from 2006 to 2010.
