Matt Norden

Matt Norden is 2U’s Chief Legal Officer and oversees securities, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and intellectual property matters.

Norden joined 2U in September 2013 as Deputy General Counsel. He helped lead 2U through its successful initial public offering in 2014 as well as the company’s acquisition of GetSmarter, which closed in July 2017. Norden was recognized for his career achievements in 2016 when he was named one of the DC region’s top 40 in-house lawyers.

Prior to 2U, Norden served as Vice President, General Counsel at TOMS Shoes. He served four years as the company’s global in-house legal counsel, providing cross-border advice to executive management on a variety of strategic and operational issues and played an integral role in the company’s rapid expansion to China, Europe, the Middle East, and South America.
