Fernando Álvarez Calleja has had a diverse range of work experiences over the years. Fernando began their career as an intern at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where they gained practical knowledge in IT Services. Fernando then moved on to an internship at Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid, where they worked on developing an application to manage and analyze sales data for public transport tickets.

In 2011, Fernando took on another internship at Repsol YPF, further expanding their skills and knowledge. This was followed by a role as a DevOps Engineer at cloudControl, where they gained experience in managing the infrastructure of cloud-based applications.

In 2015, Fernando joined Locafox GmbH as a Software Engineer, where they contributed to the development of software solutions. During the same year, they also joined BeBanjo as a Site Reliability Engineer, responsible for ensuring the reliability and stability of their systems. Fernando later took on the role of Infrastructure Lead at BeBanjo, taking charge of the company's infrastructure operations.

Most recently, Fernando joined 37signals as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, where they continue to utilize their expertise in ensuring the reliability and scalability of systems.

Throughout their career, Fernando Álvarez Calleja has acquired valuable experience in various roles, showcasing their adaptability and expertise in IT infrastructure management and software development.

Fernando Álvarez Calleja completed a Master's degree in Ciudad y Urbanismo from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya from 2019 to 2021. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering with a focus on Information Technology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, which they pursued from 2004 to 2012. In 2009, they also received a Beca Erasmus to study Informatik at The Philipp University of Marburg for a year.
