Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at 3M

Yen Florczak is the current Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at 3M. Yen has been with the company since September 1998 and in their current role since June 2016. Prior to that, they were the Assistant Chief, Intellectual Property Counsel, leading and managing a team of 10-25 professionals specialized in intellectual property for 3M's Electronics and Energy Business Group. Yen has also Negotiated collaboration agreements with original equipment manufacturing companies and key partners allowing parties to collaborate on specific projects to advance a technology area. In addition, they have conducted IP due diligence in mergers and acquisition projects for public and non-public target companies. Yen has also worked with a cross-functional team to divest businesses.

Yen's previous experience includes working as a Process Engineer at Abbot Laboratories from August 1990 to August 1992. In this role, they were responsible for the processes of producing controlled substances pharmaceutical products.

Yen Florczak attended the University of Minnesota for both their undergraduate and law degrees. Yen received a Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Engineering, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Yen then went on to earn their Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School.

A direct report to Yen Florczak is and Dan Pastirik - Assistant Chief Intellectual Property Counsel. They work with Amber Moren - Legal Counsel, C. Michael Geise - Assistant Secretary, and Kevin Ueland - VP & Global Head of Investigations. Their manager is Kevin Rhodes, EVP, Chief Legal Affairs Officer.
