Brandon Long

News Director/Broadcast Operations Director at 41NBC / WMGT-DT

Brandon Long has a long history of working in the news industry. Brandon began their career in 2002 as a News Intern at ABC 24 WPTY. In 2003, they moved to WNOX-FM as a News Intern. In 2004, they were a News Intern at WBIR-TV, LLC, and also began their role as News Director/Broadcast Operations Director at 41NBC/WMGT-DT. At 41NBC/WMGT-DT, they also served as News Director, Anchor/Managing Editor, and Anchor/Reporter. During their time in these roles, they were responsible for newsroom management, station-wide project coordination, short and long-term strategic planning, leading and managing a newsgathering and production operations team, structuring and maintaining training for all newsroom personnel, recruiting and hiring high-caliber talent, ensuring accuracy and clarity of all news reports on air and online, supervising and coordinating news staff during breaking news situations, producing coverage, anchoring duties for early and late evening newscasts, and enterprising stories.

Brandon Long has a M.A. in Communication Arts (with Honors) from Austin Peay State University, where they specialized in Media Management & Corporate Communication. Brandon also holds a B.S. in Communication from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a focus on Broadcasting/Political Science. In February 2017, they obtained a Poynter-Cronkite Certificate Program for Adjunct Instructors from Arizona State University - Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
