Alan MacKay

Alan Mackay is an experienced engineering professional with a Master's Degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from The University of Edinburgh. Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at 42 Technology since February 2015, Alan has held multiple leadership roles including Head of Mechanical Engineering & Design, Head of Applied Science, and Senior Consultant. Prior experience includes serving as Chief Technology Officer at Trident Energy, where responsibility encompassed the electrical and mechanical design of linear generator technology, and a Systems Engineer role at Frazer-Nash Consultancy, focusing on risk mitigation in product development. Alan's earlier career includes engineering positions at Pelamis Wave Power, contributing to the commissioning and development of wave energy systems. Further education includes leadership training at Henley Business School and completion of the Board Director Programme.
